How It Works

This "Shopping Mall" provides access to hundreds of Online merchants who pay the school or nonprofit organization of your choice a commission for purchases you make at their site.

The nonprofit organization benefits when you access a merchant's website through the Shopping Mall and make a purchase.

We Present a Unique Service:

The Online Shopping Mall is created and managed by Build the Village Online.

  • We have established relationships with over 380 online merchants.
  • Each organization’s Shopping Mall is customized to create a look and feel consistent with their existing web site.
  • We provide extensive marketing material and on-going support to assist the participating organization to inform and encourage utilization of the Shopping Mall by its donors and supporters.

    An Icon with the link to The Shopping Mall will appear on the organization’s web site.

After accessing the Shopping Mall the first time you can save this link to you own computer as a Bookmark (Favorite). You will then have easy access to the Shopping Mall direct from your own computer.

Frequent Questions:

Are these web sites the Merchant's full web sites, or am I seeing only products or services they have chosen to include for discount?

These are the merchant's full web site. You are able to purchase any product or service that is available.

Have the prices been raised by the merchant to offset the commission they are paying?

The prices are the same as if you had accessed their site directly rather than going through the "Shopping Mall". Think of it like using a credit card that gives you cash back or credits you airline miles, or a "Reward" card a local grocery store. This is like a cash back or reward program, only with 380+ online merchants.

Will Build the Village Online send me email about special offers, discounts or coupons?

When registering you are given the option to select to receive regular emails regarding special and promotions offered by particular merchants.

You can also select to receive an email from Build the Village confirming a purchase with the amount of cash back earned by the purchase for your organization.

We do not send you emails unless you give us permission.

Do I Need to Register?

In order to accurately track purchases back to the correct organization and provide an accounting of those purchases, we do need you to register.

Registration is simple. We simply ask for:

An accurate and functioning email.

  • Registration allows you to access your personal account information where you will be able to review current and past purchases and the amount of commission generated.
  • The site will recognize you the next time you visit the Shopping Mall so you will not need to sign in again.
  • You can opt to receive an email confirming your purchase, and the amount of commission that will be generated.

Privacy:

Build the Village Online places privacy of user information as one of our first and highest priorities. Please review our Privacy Promise for specifics and details. In summary there are three important elements:

  • No personally identifiable information will ever be available to anyone.
  • Information about what sites you visited, or what you purchased will not be disclosed.
  • You will not receive unsolicited email or spam or pop-ups or other intrusive marketing techniques from Build the Village Online.

How much are the commissions?

The amount of commission varies by merchant, and can vary on based on the type of product or service purchased, and can vary based on the amount of purchase. Next to link to each merchant we indicate the range of commission the organization will receive for purchases from that merchant. On average, the organization can expect to receive a commission of 3.5% from purchases.

What constitutes a purchase?

The commission is calculated from the base purchase price of the product or service. Sales tax, shipping, gift-wrapping or other extras are not considered when calculating the commission.

How will I know how much commission my purchases have generated?

With registration you will be able to access your personal account information where your purchase and commission history is available for you to see. Also at registration, you can select the option to receive an email confirming your purchase.

Once a month we will provide the organization, a summary of purchases made and the amount of commission those purchases generated. This report will show individual purchases, but will not identify the item purchased or the person who made the purchase.

How will Cash Reward payments be made to the organization?

Each participating merchant has a different schedule for sending commission payments to Build the Village. Once each month Build the Village will forward to the participating organization their share of the commissions that have been received.
